I am a queer white settler of Scottish, British, and Polish descent, grateful to be living on lək̓ʷəŋən territory. I am a Registered Nurse and a current Assistant Professor in the School of Nursing at the University of Victoria. I began my nursing career working within mental health and eating disorder inpatient settings, before completing my Master’s and PhD at the University of British Columbia. My program of research focuses enhancing capacity for social justice within the nursing profession and across the health care system. In particular, I focus my work on remediating inequities in health and health care for 2SLGBTQIA+ people, and people who experience mental health challenges. Additional research interests include nursing education, safety and risk, nursing philosophy, discourse analysis, and social media.
